Classic Pandesal

A classic Filipino favorite made special with URC Flour.

Ingredients:

1000g Globe First Class Flour

15g Instant Yeast

200g Brown Sugar

23g Vegetable Oil

10g Salt

150g Shortening

530g Water

5g Vanilla Flavor

120g Breadcrumbs

 

Procedure:

  1. In a mixing bowl, sift Globe First Class Flour and yeast. Mix well and then set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine sugar and salt in water, mix until completely dissolved. Then add oil and vanilla.
  3. Make a well on the middle of the flour mixture and then pour the salt-sugar mixture into the well. Mix and knead until well incorporated. Once hydrated, add in the shortening and mix until well combined.
  4. Conduct window test to check the completion of ingredient and if gluten was developed.
  5. Rest the dough for 30 minutes.
  6. Punch down the dough, form into a medium thick baston, coat in breadcrumbs and scale- cut into 30-gram portions.
  7. Arrange in a baking tray and proof for 30 mins or until dough portions double in size.
  8. Bake in an oven (pre-heated at 165 degree Celsius) for 10-12 minutes of until desired surface crust texture and color is achieved.
