It’s another Friday afternoon at home and you’re feeling snacky. What better thing is there to do than encourage everyone to take a short break to spend time together for merienda? It’s a good time to check-in on each other and bond as a family. Set the good mood by having everyone enjoy a nice glass of juice and a simple but delicious sandwich. Here are some quick sandwich recipes that will surely be a hit to everyone in the family.

The Elvis Sandwich

Named such because it was Elvis Presley’s favorite sandwich, you might as well call it after yourself because it just might be your new favorite as well! Take some bacon (honey-cured would be perfect) and fry it until crisp. Set the pan aside. Next, spread some peanut butter on a slice of Baker John Premium Soft White Bread, top it with slices of banana (mashed banana also works), then the cooked bacon, and another slice of bread. With the bacon fat remaining on the pan, fry the sandwich on each side until golden brown. You can also add butter to improve the taste even more.

Cheesy Tomato Open-Faced Sandwich

Pop a slice of Baker John’s Whole Grain Wheat Bread into the toaster for 1-2 minutes. If you don’t have a toaster, you can toast one on a pan. While waiting, cut up about two spoons of cheese into cubes roughly ¼ inches wide. Next, take some roasted tomatoes and scatter them over the toast. Spread the cheese cubes on it as well. Put the bread back in the toaster for a few more minutes, until the cheese softens.

Tip: if you don’t have roasted tomatoes, halve some fresh tomatoes, lay it on your toaster pan with the sliced sides facing up, drizzle some oil, sprinkle some salt and oregano, and toast it for 10-15 minutes, until it gets shriveled and burns on the edges. You can make a batch and store it in the fridge for future use.

Tuna Melt Sandwich

Take two Baker John Carrot Pandesal and heat it on the toaster for 1-2 minutes. In the meantime, take some canned tuna, drain the liquid, and mix it in a bowl with some mayonnaise or sandwich spread. You can add salt and pepper, and garnish it with pickle relish, onions, and fresh parsley. Once you have your tuna spread, layer it on your bread and cover it with grated cheese. Toast it for a few minutes until the cheese has melted.

Breakfast Sandwich

Who says eggs and meatloaf only pair well with rice? Fry some meatloaf slices on a pan until crisp on the outside, and set aside. Next, cook an egg however you want—be it scrambled, over-easy, sunny-side-up—and set it aside. Next, melt some butter on the pan and place two slices of Baker John Premium Soft White Bread. Top one of the slices with cheese and cook until the bread is toasted and the cheese starts to melt. Top the cheese with the meatloaf, then the egg, and cover it with the other slice of bread.

Tip: if you don’t feel like using meatloaf, you can alternatively go for cold cuts, ham, sausage or chorizo slices, or bacon.

Whatever sandwich you’re making, use Baker John bread! Packed with a unique natural flavor and a soft texture, this high-quality bread will surely fill your tummy! If you don’t feel like making a sandwich, Baker John also offers flavored breads such as Carrot Pandesal, Premium Milk Loaf and Cinnamon Soft Bread which are perfect for snacking on!
